A short profile interview
Main areas of interest. Now engaged as a professional educator of photographers worldwide with additional interests in Weddings, Portraits and Equestrian Photography but formally I'm a Commercial guy.
Key Achievements. Let's just say I have been around the block a few times.
Affiliations, Professional Qualifications & Fellowships. Again, a few in the bag of all descriptions but I have learned that in our game it is more important to be a ‘man of the moment’ and simply please the most important people – our clients. I am however, very attached to Nik Software in both Europe and the USA. It’s great to promote something you really believe in!
Awards Lots of those too but all ancient history. I think my earliest may have been on Papyrus!
Who you are. In short I am still a guy with a mission in life and this community is just another manifestation of that goal. Although I am largely a ‘professional trainer’ I still hold a candle for photography and with the encouragement of my partner fully intend to come back with a vengeance. I would love to say I am motivated by awards and adulation but in truth what really makes me buzz is seeing the achievements of those whose careers I have been privileged to touch.
How you got here. The long and hard way. Determination, grit and unfortunately a few knives in the back along the way!
What are you up to. I am driven to drive itv, the all new information rich web resource together with my colleagues but also to re-establish a real photographic business again before I fall off the perch.
Favourite Photographers. Terrance Donovan, Helmut Newton and quite honestly anyone who has made it their goal to educate and inspire.
Favourite Assignments. That is almost impossible to answer but without seeming gushy, the wedding I have just shot with my partner in Mexico has been a monumental experience I shall never forget. Simply everything was right!
Favourite Locations. Petra, Barcelona, London and I would love to say Paris, but..
Favourite Quotes. There is only the one I wear around my neck: 'Carpe Diem' - Seize the Day!
Toughest Challenge to date. A black car against a black background with big blondes, redheads and a swimming pool (just for you commercial guys out there!)
Future Photographic Goals. Simply to share my craft, please others and educate & inspire.
